Amarpreet’s research interests span a number of areas, including technology-enhanced teaching and learning Amarpreet’s research interests span a number of areas, including design for sustainability, interdisciplinary collaboration, technology-enhanced teaching and learning, and human-computer interaction. His PhD in Education focuses on the use of technology and digital pedagogy in Design and Engineering education.

Expertise summary

Amarpreet joined University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) in 2013, as the Design Studio Tutor in the Department of Mechanical, Material and Manufacturing Engineering (M3), within the Faculty of Science and Engineering. Amarpreet has extensive experience in the automotive and industrial design field, graduating from the prestigious Masters of Fine Arts (MFA) Transportation Design program at Umea Institute of Design, Sweden, and working for several global companies such as SAAB AB, ŠKODA Auto A.S., and Studio SDKZ, China. During his time at UNNC, has led collaborations with industry partners to enhance the teaching & learning at UNNC through innovative and practical learning experiences.

He is a core member of the Science and Engineering Education (SEE) research group, a fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and a member of the Institute of Engineering Designers (iED). Furthermore, since joining UNNC he has won over 30 international design awards (Red dot, IF, IDA, European Design Awards and A’Design Award), secured several external funds and patents, and has published in international peer-reviewed journals. In 2020, Amarpreet started his PhD in Education at UNNC, which focuses on the use of technology and digital pedagogy in Design & Engineering Education at higher education institutions.
