Dr Elsaid Mamdouh Mahmoud Zahran graduated with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Hons) from Cairo University, Egypt, in 2000, and completed his Master of Science in civil engineering from Cairo University, Egypt, in 2005. He obtained his PhD in civil engineering from the University of Nottingham, UK, in 2010. At present, Dr Zahran is an Assistant Professor in geospatial engineering at University of Nottingham Ningbo China. He was previously appointed as Associate Professor in civil engineering at Ain Shams University in Egypt. He also worked as an Assistant Professor in civil engineering and the Deputy Director of the Centre for Transport Research at Universiti Teknologi Brunei, Brunei Darussalam. He was an Assistant Professor in civil engineering at Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University in Saudi Arabia and Ain Shams University in Egypt. He also was a teaching assistant in civil engineering at the University of Nottingham, UK.
His research interests are road traffic safety, geographic information science, transport engineering, pavement engineering, air quality management and forest fire control. Dr Zahran is a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Engineering Council in the UK. He is also a chartered engineer at the Syndicate of Engineers in Egypt. In both 2013 and subsequently, in 2019, his research progress in civil engineering was featured at Advances in Engineering. He is listed in 14 Who’s Who encyclopaedias, including the Marquis Who’s Who in the World, for his contributions to teaching and research in civil engineering. In 2015, he was awarded the Cambridge Certificate for Outstanding Professional Achievement in Teaching and Research in Civil Engineering by the International Biographical Centre (IBC), Cambridge, England. He was also awarded the title of ‘Research Professor’ by the IBC in 2017 for his exceptional research progress in Civil Engineering.
Dr Zahran has served as a reviewer for quality international journals such as Journal of Transportation Safety & Security, Taylor & Francis Group ISSN: 19439962, 19439970 and International Journal of Injury Control and Safety Promotion, Taylor & Francis Group ISSN: 1745-7300, 1745-7319. He has also served as a technical committee member for many international conferences, such as the International Conference on Transportation and Traffic Engineering (ICTTE), International Conference on Traffic and Logistic Engineering (ICTLE) and International Conference on Intelligent Transportation Engineering (ICITE). He has served as the editor of several international conferences, such as the Annual International Conference on Material Science and Environmental Engineering (MSEE).
