Personal profile

Dr. Lei Hao earned his Ph.D. in Media and Communications from Goldsmiths, University of London. Situated at the intersection of technicity and identity formation, his research scrutinizes the intricate relationships between media technology and human subjectivity. He is the author of the monograph "Minzu as Technology: Ethnic Identity and Social Media in Post-2000s China," which offers a critical examination of how technological dynamics of social media affect the materialization of ethnic identities.

His ongoing research is expanding into a second book that delves into the adoption and implementation of blockchain technology in China, a project anchored by empirical findings from his hands-on experience in various blockchain initiatives.

In addition to his academic contributions, Dr. Hao has cultivated substantial industry synergies through direct knowledge exchange. With over six years of entrepreneurial expertise in both China and the UK, he has held positions such as the Head of Chinese Operations at IOHK, a leading engineering firm specializing in blockchain technology.
