Abstract
A philosophy for chemical process development on industrial scale has evaluated the activities involved, and has also identified important issues and practices that will facilitate a process development needed to translate bench-scale chemistry into a commercial process. Present environment is demanding the process development evolution in terms of the ability to identify or create several opportunities, evaluate them rapidly, and immediately eliminate those with poor prospects, which also requires an ability to identify and generate critical data, and also to use the data to determine process feasibility in earliest terms. A process development should be achieved collaboratively such that to provide best design choices with minimal resources, time, and various technologies. The activities at each development stage should move forward in coordinated manner and should also lead to greater certainty regarding the system behavior, thereby resulting in tighter design processes.
