Abstract
The two-dimensional eddy field finite element function for the loss calculation in stator can was obtained based on the electromagnetic induction law, and the mathematical models of the eddy field were established. Using the finite element method and terminal voltage convergence, the eddy loss of the stator can was calculated. Then, the results were compared with that from traditional analytical formula and the experimental data, and the accuracy of FEM in calculating loss was proved. Using the same method the eddy losses of canned motors with different size and different materials cans were calculated, and the variation of the losses with these parameters was found. At the same time, the performances of canned motors with different can were calculated, and the influence of eddy loss on them was studied, thus the variation regular patterns were found. The obtained calculation method and law can be helpful to eddy current loss calculation, optimum design and manufacture of canned motor.
