title = "Complexity of the gear cutter: A focused discussion of competitive gear manufacturing techno-economics",
abstract = "In this work it is shown that by introducing a simple fixed-point cutting geometry, classical hobbing and hard-finishing processes can be replaced by costeffective alternatives. The techno-economical implications of such a choice are investigated tentatively, showing that the new process and cutter design can be competitive in the context of low production volumes, of small non-specialised contracting shops and/or of non-standard gear geometries.",
