Abstract
The positive temperature coefficient (PTC) characteristic and electric self-heating behavior of carbon black loaded high density polyethylene composites have been studied with respect to the annealing influence. Both the PTC and the heating behavior were less affected by the annealing at elevated temperatures. The electric self-heating behavior of the PTC plate was determined by the both the resistivity-temperature characteristic and the heat dissipation conditions. An empirical equation was proposed to describe the self-heating behavior of the PTC plates.
