abstract = "The reliability of driving motor directly relates to the security and stability of Electric Vehicles (EVs). On the basis of theoretical analysis and lots of statistics laws, combined with national standards, the FTA method is used to analyze deeply the fault models of components in EVs driving motor. The values of failure frequency ratio, conditional probability of fatal level, failure probability and duration of the tasks are estimated with analogy and assessment methods and a simple analytical calculation is given to predict the failure criticality of components in EVs driving motor. Based on the proposed method, some precautionary measures can adopt to decrease the frequency of fatal failures during driving motor design and practical operation.",
