Abstract
Microgrids represent an attractive solution for a more flexible way to manage electrical power systems, potentially allowing for increased distributed generation and smarter usage of the available electrical power. However, the presence of power electronics and their control can challenge the system stability, especially power electronic converters with constant power load behavior. This article considers a novel online load identification (OLLI) technique applied to the control of power electronic converters, as well as two control strategies to achieve the stabilization of the whole system. The OLLI algorithm and the stabilizing effects of the proposed control strategies are validated through simulation and laboratory experiments, showing the feasibility of the presented work applied in future microgrids.
