Abstract
Influence of electron beam irradiation on the resistivity of carbon-black loaded high density polyethylene (HDPE/CB) conductive composites were studied. The results show that the resistivity increases with the increase of temperature. The PTC intensity of the composites irradiated at room temperature is higher than that irradiated at melting temperature under the same irradiation dose. For the two different irradiation conditions, the NTC effect disappears when irradiation doses are over 200 kGy. The changes of resistivity are related to the crystalline and crosslinking of polyethylene caused by irradiation.
