Abstract

This paper proposes a new algorithm of only using motion vectors (MVs) of macroblocks contained in MPEG encodings to fast extract camera motion directly from compressed videos. Due to very low computing cost, our algorithm is faster than real-time processing, and thus suitable for implementation on hardware, such as PTZ video camera.
