Multi-Targets 3D Indoor Navigation on PDA with Wireless Sensor Network

Abstract

The endowment of 3D graphics technology accelerates the market trends on various industries such as the entertainment, advertisement, structural layout design, architectural modeling, and etc. that auspiciously intrigue the human attention on representing useful information in an extraordinary way. In fact, the 3D graphic contents extended its appliance as guiding or tourist map to indicate a particular building or route that users are interested in. This paper aims to illustrate the routine of 3D graphics for demonstrating target's present viewpoint contingent to the target's location in x-axis and z-axis with the support of digital magnetic compass (DMC) in dynamic environment. Moreover, the system bestowed upon the wireless sensor network, adapt the idea of ubiquitous computing and context-awareness and display the final output (3D scene) on the mobile device. On the contrary, multiple targets can be detected concurrently within boundary (space) not beyond the sensor range of target node. The final 3D visualization contains not only 3D graphics but as well as in 2D standard (top view) conjointly with textual information to depict an overall transparent image to the user. Thus, other detected targets are displayed at the 2D/3D scene simultaneously to reveal the flexibility of 3D graphics. In spite of increase the speed of rendering and visualization processes on the low power processing mobile device, a novel culling algorithm is derived to serve the purpose. Meanwhile, RSSI signals in IEEE 802.15.4 standard which contribute to the position prediction based on the signal strength received utilize the radio frequency model for transmitting the signals between sensor nodes.
