Abstract

This paper provides the thermal and rotor strength analyses of a high-speed permanent magnet motor (HSPMM) with solid type permanent magnet rotor. The computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is used to estimate the HSPMM's thermal performances. Several water cooling methods are compared to find the more effective cooling method for the motor. Both analytical and FEM methods are employed to investigate the rotor strength performances for the HSPMM. Moreover, several factors influencing the rotor strength performances are also further studied and researched.
