Abstract
Toughness improvement of carbon laminates using periodic interleaving thin thermoplastic films was presented. The periodic interleaf concept was demonstrated and compared with the toughening concept based on thermoplastic modified epoxy matrices. Results indicated that the impact resistance of carbon laminates could be enhanced by matrix toughening or by interleaving thin films of thermoplastic.
