Eric is currently an Assistant Professor of Economics at the Nottingham University Business School China (NUBS China), University of Nottingham, China. He obtained his PhD in Economics from the City University of Hong Kong, where he was a Beta Gamma Sigma honouree. Prior to joining NUBS China, he worked as a Research Associate at the University of Hamburg, Germany and Teaching Assistant at the City University of Hong Kong. Eric does applied economics research mainly in the areas of economics of environmental sustainability (environmental economics), energy (access, poverty and transition), sustainable development and finance, development finance, foreign direct investment and international trade. In these areas, his research outputs have been published in journals such as Energy Economics, Energy Policy, Journal of Environmental Management, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, and Business Strategy and the Environment. His research has also attracted funding from institutions such as the International Growth Centre and the African Capacity Building Foundation. Eric is currently on the board of the African Finance and Economic Association, and also on the editorial boards of the Journal of African Development, and Springer Nature Business and Economics.

Eric is interested in supervising/working with PhD students with broad interests in  in applied economics, and specific interests in applied environmental and energy economics, sustainable development and finance, development finance, international economics (FDI and trade issues), economic growth and development issues.
