Dr. Shixin Ivy Zhang specializes in journalism studies, media globalization, media and conflict, and media management. She has published two research monographs entitled Impact of Globalization on the Local Press in China (2014) and Chinese War Correspondents: Covering Wars and Conflicts in the 21st Century (2016). She was a visiting scholar at University of Lund, Sweden in 2014 and a visiting research fellow at East Asian Institute, National University of Singapore in 2015.

Dr Shixin Ivy Zhang joined the School of International Communications at the University of Nottingham Ningbo, China in 2009 as an Assistant Professor after completing her PhD at the University of Leeds in 2008.
Her research focuses on journalism studies, media management, media globalisation, and media and conflict. She has published widely including two research monographs entitled Impact of Globalization on the Local Press in China (2014) and Chinese War Correspondents: Covering Wars and Conflicts in the 21st Century (2016), as well as ten high quality international peer-reviewed journal articles.
She has years of journalistic experience as a full time/freelance journalist and editor with Chinese publications that include Global Times (English version), World Affairs Pictorial, Beijing Today (English), Beijing Youth Daily, Modern Weekly, Beijing Legal Evening News, as well as Leeds Student and BBC Radio Leeds.
